Stockton East Water District (SEWD), South San Joaquin Irrigation District (SSJID) and North San Joaquin Water Conservation District (NSJWCD) are pleased to be administering the State Water Efficiency & Enhancement Project Block Grant (SWEEP) for our constituents. The application window is now closed.

The objective of this funding opportunity was to invite eligible applicants utilize state funds on projects that seek to conserve and use water and energy more efficiently, primarily through the conversion from groundwater to surface water irrigation and accomplish other benefits that contribute to sustainability.

Up to $200,000 were available per project. The SWEEP Block Grant Program has helped aware 21 projects within SEWD, SSJID and NSJWCD that will provide water and energy savings. Within SEWD, we have awarded 13 projects. Upon completion of the 13 SEWD projects, 1,559 acres will be converted from groundwater to surface water irrrigation. This totals approximately 4,366 AFY of in-lieu recharge. The program has been a great success and will help our groundwater basin reach sustainability.
