Governance
Election and Appointment Procedures
The Stockton East Water District is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors elected by the voters within the District. Directors serve four-year staggered terms in accordance with the Stockton East Water District Act and the Uniform District Election Law (Division 21 of the California Water Code).
Regular district elections are held on the same date as the City of Stockton’s general municipal election (November of even-numbered years).
If a mid-term vacancy occurs, the Board may appoint a qualified individual within 60 days, consistent with Government Code Section 1780.
For current election calendars, candidate filing periods, and eligibility requirements, please contact the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters at www.sjcrov.org.
